Freebies® In Your Classroom!

Teachers across the country have been using Freebies® offers as a teaching tool for almost 20 years! Use Freebies® to teach about writing, addresses, math and more.

1. Choose an offer from Freebies® that only requires an SASE (Self Addressed Stamped Envelope).

2. Ask each student to bring in two envelopes and two 39˘ stamps.

3. On the first envelope, ask each student, to write his or her name and address in the middle of the envelope.

4. Ask each student to place a stamp in the proper place on the envelope and fold it in thirds. ( Freebies® teaches math, too!) Set that envelope aside.

5. Now, write the "Mail to" address on the board or overhead.

6. Ask each student to write the "Mail To" address on the front of the second envelope.

7. Ask each student to place a stamp in the proper place on the second envelope.

8. Direct students to write on a separate piece of paper:

"My name is (insert student's first name here)."
"I am in (grade level) grade at (name of school)"
"I read about your offer at Freebies.com."
"Please send me one {insert "Ask For" information}."
     "Thank you!"

9. When your students' offers begin to arrive at their homes (allow about six to eight weeks), ask your students to bring them into the classroom.

10. Record your progress on a classroom or hall bulletin board. Create a pocket in which to place the free offers when they come in.

11. Create a graph about the number of offers that arrive.

12. Create a calendar on which to record how many offers arrived on each date.
